Fatal Error - 2008/07/24 22:24 Hi...

just installed the last version of pdf indexer, everything is ok... I corrected a few lines of code to make it UTF8. everything is perfect.. but sometimes I got this error message :

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:wampwwwldt01librariesjoomladatabasedatabasemysql.php on line 221

I got about 5510 (mono page) pdf files on a test server... We are expecting to do the same thing with 10 times more files...

But sometimes on some query we got the error message.

I suppose it is a timeout or something problem... any idea where I could enquire ?

Thank you

Greg

Re:Fatal Error - 2008/07/24 22:54 Holy smokes that is a lot of files. This will slow down your site search quite a bit. It's like adding 5500 pages to your site.

As for the time out. it takes a while to scrape all of those files so you will experience timeouts when indexing. the good news is it remembers where it left off so just click it a few times and let it do it's thing.

Re:Fatal Error - 2008/07/25 03:51 Hi...

actually, I didnt explain very well...
for our pdf archives, we did an empty site just to search in our pdf...

The indexation of the files is ok....

the error is generated, just
    after a search
result.

On some search (not all), the result is this :
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:wampwwwldt01librariesjoomladatabasedatabasemysql.php on line 221

Is there anything to tweak on php.ini or somewhere else to solve this issue ?

As said before, on our test site, we got 5510 (one page) pdf files... and I have calculated, that on the "live site", we will have about 22000 pdf files....

Re:Fatal Error - 2008/07/25 04:08 you can bump up the time out but I don't know if this is the right solution to search through 22000 files. You are better off to go with something a little more robust. This is meant for anywhere from a few files to 1000 files. Anything more than that Joomla will crawl. If you throw more servers at it, it will work. It's just not made to be a robust search engine. There are plenty of other alternatives out there specifically made for that purpose. http://lucene.apache.org comes to mind. That has PDF indexing and many other doc types are supported.

Re:Fatal Error - 2008/07/25 08:41 I was wondering this while having a look at the indexes and the configuration....

- When I index 5000 pdf files, is it a bit like if I had 5000 new content articles in Joomla ?

Re:Fatal Error - 2008/07/25 17:06 It's exactly like that. So every time someone does a search it's searching through all of those PDFs. That is a lot of data
