The installer should take care of any permission issues but if you are having any issues there are two places to check.
- Check your permissions on config.file_index.php file located in administrator/components/com_file_index directory. It should be set to 777.
- Check the permissions on the pdftotext and pdftotext.exe file located in administrator/components/com_file_index directory/includes. It should be set to 555.
- Also make sure that your mosbot is published
- Is your server in SafeMode? It will not work in SafeMode
- Make sure Popen is enabled on your server.
